Remontada
Remontada
Remontada en Cuevana. In Casablanca, on the day of Eid al-Adha, 13-year-old Ismaïl, a soccer prodigy with a promising professional career ahead of him, suffers a serious burn that jeopardizes his legs and his dreams. Hospitalized in a public facility, he endures pain and uncertainty while his middle-class parents struggle to provide him with the care he needs in a largely privatized healthcare system. Running parallel to Ismaïl’s story is the historic tale of the Moroccan team reaching the semifinals in the 2022 World Cup, a journey that resembles collective redemption. Through the eyes of a child, the film immerses the viewer in an intimate and universal story, oscillating between tragedy and self-mockery, in which the solidarity of a community becomes a force for survival. Remontada is a social comedy-drama about resilience, transmission, and the ability to reinvent one's future.
